So I'm sitting at work yesterday with my boss, bored as hell. It wasn't a normal boring, it was supreme boredom. Normally, we have internet access and can take care of projects or emails, but the power flickered on Friday and so our fickle state internet connection was down.
Finally I managed to find something to do by counting the number of people in the park to get a rough estimate. (yes, I know...)
While I was in the middle of this, I get a phone call from my mother. She wanted to know if I'd tried to call her back. Call her back? She said she was in the ER and the phone made a noise. The ER?? Oh God. She woke up yesterday morning at 7am panicing because she couldn't breathe. My dad took her to the ER and they admitted her. They don't know what's wrong, but everytime her breath starts to restrict again, she panics and doesn't know what to do. They aren't sure if this has something to do with the emphysema or not. She thought it was withdrawals from the morphine patches (she was beginning day 4 of quitting them cold turkey). Oi...
So I spent last night in the hospital with her, helping her adjust and focused on breathing. I didn't leave until the nurse said she was bringing her some meds to keep her calm and some ambien to put her to sleep. Gonna go back up there this morning to see if I an do anything for her.
