You can not claim to be my friend if you are unwilling to stick with me through the bad times.
You can not be my friend if you are more worried about you, all of the time, than anything else around you.
You can not be a very good friend if you never notice when something in my life has gone wrong.
You can not be my friend only when it suits you.
You can not act like my friend when you are only looking for gossip.
You can not pretend to be my friend when you need just one more person to make it all about you.

You can be my friend if you are willing to listen just as much as you are willing to talk.
You can be my friend if you are able to hold off certain judgments because you know they aren't helpful.
You can be my friend if you are willing to share in my life just as much as I am willing to share in yours.
You can be my friend if you understand that our friendship is not about you.
You can be my friend when you realize that my friendship comes with love and can not exploit that.

Only a true friend realizes all of these things and practices them in a real sense. What kind of friend are you?
