Second Life Musings

Ok, so I've spent quite a bit of time on SL over the holiday. I've spent quite a bit of time in SL previous to this, but I think the difference is that I took an interest in stuff and have finally noticed that I know more than I did before. That may not make sense.
A few months ago, someone bought a few building tutorials for me so I could try to make some L$. I petered around with them a tad, but never really got into attempting them. There was always something to distract me. Well, the last two days, I spent some time actually going through one of them. And what do you think happened? I learned something!! Now I have the bug. I made trees and learned what scripts do what things and omg...I think I'm addicted. This may be temporary, but then again...
I've been wanting to do script work for awhile now anyway. I have a lot of good scripts in various objects but I can't manage to wear them all at the same time. There are only so many parts of my body I can stick a HUD to and even then, which one will over power which other one? Yanno? So what I want to do is make just a few items, or a HUD that will allow me to use one command to pull down a drop down menu when I'm wearing it and let me switch to different, self-controlled, animations. I want to be able to ice skate without a poseball, and roller blade (for when there is no ice), and incorporate turns and jumps and stuff into them. Of course, that's not all I want to do with it, but if I can figure out how to do that, then I can get started on all kinds of things. And hey, if I get good enough, perhaps I can start selling attachments like these with different options.
As far as the building goes, I had dreams last night of building a rainforest with prim animals, rain and trees. Even thinking about it right now, I can't wait to get home and start playing with other tutorials. I'm on a build high!!
I have to thank Balsac Laval and Blaize Korobase for getting me interested in building. They started it when they got together to form "Blaize" That's who you want to look for if you need a great fire, campfire, rug, etc. They're amazing!
Anyway, back to work. Happy New Year!!
